Hi, my name is

Beichen Liu, PhD

Electrochemical Engineer | Materials Scientist

Welcome to my website! I am currently a postdoctoral scholar at Caltech working on electrified solid-solid interfaces. While my training is in chemical engineering, I have worked on materials systems ranging from ionic liquids, to inorganic materials, to polymeric soft materials. My work is focused on developing a fundamental understanding of electrochemical interfaces and how changes in molecular structures can lead to changes in material structure and performance, with the ultimate goal of enabling the materials technologies of the future.

Material and electrochemical interfaces are incredibly complex. My work is aimed at bridging fundamental surface and interfacial science with observable phenomena. Please take a look around to learn more!
